Merely throwing this data out here, because I spent a month trying to prepare my door lock.

The key essentially spins in the lock and doesn't appoint.

I've been all over the identify between a couple of indi shops and lock smiths, and all over the audi forums. In that location is no information out there on how exercise to this. The professionals were ultimately unable to disassemble the printing-fit together lock in my 2000 S4(and as such, any other face-lift B5 presumably).

This 'problem' comes from the dorsum (the round part) breaking over time, and in the B5 passat, which has a completely different (and normal) lock, you tin repair the mechanism,

the facelift A4 does non have the aforementioned lock at all, and after I received these parts none of them even remotely looked like they went into my car.

Ultimately, I bought a new door lock cylinder (which has a ii-3 calendar week lead time) from my dealer for ~ $200.

I don't have B5 A4 instructions.

But the B5 A4 uses the same lock kit parts (even so the lock mechanism is total unlike) as the Passat (ane is air, the other solenoid actuated).
Plus, removing the lock from the door is totally unlike.

Putting the new parts onto the lock should be the same between B5 A4 and B5 Passat.

I have only done a few Passat myself, but NOT an B5 A4.

Pitiful for being much help.

I have searched on the internet and through the bently manual on a way to disassemble the lock and perform the repair, however, There is both no obvious style to disassemble the lock nor are there any online instructions pertaining to the A4's lock cylinder. Note that, the B5 passat which I was able to notice has a completely different lock cylinder.

Delight let me know the instructions for the item and how to perform this repair.

Hi, I'yard sorry to get dorsum to you with this so late, nonetheless I've checked with 4 different places including well known VAG indi shops and 2 lock smiths.

None of them take whatsoever clue how to have this apart, and I oasis't located any data pertaining to the disassemble of a facelift b5 A4 lock on any enthusiast audi website.

at this point, I have purchased a new lock as I take been told by professionals that disassembly is not possible. I would kindly similar to ask for a refund of my purchase price in this matter. If you lot wish the parts returned, I will mail service them back in an envelope for you.

You can render the lock for a refund of the particular price.

Put in a 'render' request with Amazon. I will approve.

But realize that I over 200 of my lock repair kits have been installed on the B5 A4 cars. I trust those 200 customers (and the 1998 Audi A4 1.8 Quattro I accept washed myself) more than.

BTW: if yous call the Audi dealer (or your VAG indi shop), they will as well tell you that it cost $500 (ca. $260 parts, $240 labor) to repair a window regulator. I have sold 10,000 window regulator repair clips, the DIY for those who used my clips is ca. $20. Why do you call back they tell you lot "it can be fixed cheap"?

But want to add my experience to this.

The in a higher place post is right, there is no viable kit available for repairing the drivers door lock tumbler on the Audi B5.

I had the same issue, my cardinal would not work to lock/unlock the automobile - information technology would freely spin either direction with no terminate.

I removed the handle assembly and started messing with the tumbler. The retaining plate is riveted on and you can�t remove it to detach the tumbler without doing irreversible damage. However, I was able to fix information technology without any new parts!

I am non certain exactly how I did it, but I was leveraging a flathead against various parts of the tumbler in an endeavour to popular off the retaining plate on the backside of the tumbler (the i that�s riveted on) and something clicked loudly. I put the cardinal back in the lock and information technology was back to normal operation! I used pretty good force, no demand to be gently since worst case you�d accept to supersede information technology anyway.

If y'all accept a hard time removing the key from the lock this ways that the tumbler is in the incorrect orientation internally, keep twisting the key around until y'all experience a slight click and it should slide out easily, only and so start screwing around with the flat head against the servant plate and the lock mechanism.

Hope this helps. Seems like a common outcome.
